Does knowing how to play guitar help with learning the sitar?

Question by Adele B.: Does knowing how to play guitar help with learning the sitar?
I can play guitar quite well, and I don’t use a pick as i also play spanish finger-picking.
I enjoy listening to Sitar music and am thinking of buying one. I’m aware that sitar is very difficult but would my knowledge on guitar help at all?

NO, because guitar is a different thing and so is Sitar
